There were a lot of reasons why it made sense. The space is big enough to easily fit 6 creatives – that’s a lot of creative energy and real world commercial experience which provides a great way to collaborate and bounce ideas off each other. 3 of the creatives I have known since we all went to college 20 something years ago. Also, between 6 people the shared costs make it very affordable and parking is free.

The Fibonacci Centre itself has built a reputation over the years by encouraging a strong arts based community vibe. A broad range of artists have worked – and still work – from the converted warehouse. Downstairs from our studio space is the Macc Coffee Bar – for any creative this alone is reason enough to move into the studio.

As to the creatives ourselves there’s a broad range of experience and skill sets:

• Professional graphic design services for print, web and digital media;
• Illustration;
• Exhibition and interpretive design including project management for interior and exterior fit-outs;
• Architectual level 3D rendering and animation;
• Public space arts; and
• Media production.

Many of us are still in the process of setting up our own areas and we’re also looking at having a website to promote the space so I’ll let you all know about it once it’s up and running.
